Kansas Suicide Prevention HQ

KSPHQ, formerly Headquarters, Inc., is the “parent organization” of Headquarters Counseling Center and the Kansas Suicide Prevention Resource Center. Together these programs form a comprehensive approach to suicide prevention.

The resource center provides awareness tools, training, and resources across the state of Kansas. We work within schools, businesses, civic organizations, and with local and state leaders to address suicide prevention in individual communities.

Headquarters Counseling Center

Headquarters Counseling Center staff and volunteers provide free 24-hour crisis services through local numbers, online chat, and as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Crisis Center serving all 105 counties in Kansas. Volunteers and staff participate in a rigorous training program that takes place three times per year. We are a community of Board of Directors Members, Advisors, Volunteer Counselors, and Professional Staff who are passionate about making sure that emotional support and safety are available to kids, teens, and adults. We aren't big enough to serve the world, but we sure work hard for our Douglas County, Kansas community, and for our state.

We come from different life experiences, education, and professions. We are all very caring and respectful of others.

We've been credentialed by the American Association of Suicidology, the leading professional organization for suicide prevention since 2001. We were honored in 2013 with the Crisis Center Excellence Award.
