Oakland Church of the Nazarene is a family of believers, striving to know Jesus and show Jesus, so that others may know Him.
What We Do
Oakland Church of the Nazarene serves as a mobile distribution site for Harvesters. This occurs once a month, on the third Saturday. Volunteers are needed at 8:30am to assist with setting up tables and moving product once the truck arrives. The distribution begins at 10am and volunteers are needed to help with filling out forms for families, placing product in vehicles, directing traffic to next stop in line, etc. Children aged 8 (must be accompanied by parent/guardian) through adults are able to help.
In addition to the monthly food distribution, volunteers with Oakland Nazarene also operate the Hope House. The Hope House offers free clothing to anyone in the Topeka/Shawnee County area, regardless of income. It is open Sundays 12:30-2:30pm and Wednesdays 6:00-8:00pm and during the monthly Harvesters drop.
