Who We Are

Sunrise Project provides space and opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to build an equitable community through education, good food and social connection. We are a community-driven organization that provides responsive and relevant programming designed to bring people together through food, social connection and the desire for social change.

What We Do

Sunrise Project's current programs:

Sunrise Community Meals: Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have changed our community meal program a little. We offer to-go meals every Wednesday from 5-6 PM that are open to everyone in the community! Donations are always welcome and always optional. Community meals bring people together to enjoy good food and help those who need it the most.

Sunrise Farm to School: Sunrise Project works with Cordley, Kennedy and New York Elementary schools to garden, cook and and enjoy good food. As schools have moved online, we also moved our programming online. We post videos and have weekly tastings where we harvest produce from our gardens and orchard and leave them on the front porch for the community to try.

Lawrence Fruit Tree Project stewards 2 community orchards in east Lawrence that provide fresh produce to the community for free!

Sunrise Community Garden is a free food garden located at our headquarters where people can harvest fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers for free March - November.
