Team STEAM Robotics 5119

We are Team Steam Robotics, FIRST Robotics Competition team 5119. We are a school organization with members from LHS, LVS, FSHS, and BSA, all of which are in our hometown of Lawrence. We are going on our fifth year of participation in FIRST in Kansas City.

As a FIRST Robotics team, we build a 120 pound robot from scratch in six weeks which is designed to a new competition announced yearly. In order to fund the building of the robot ($5000 just to enter the competition), our team markets to companies for sponsorships. This year, we organized a summer camp and taught 32 middle schoolers how to build, code, and drive small Raspberry Pi robots. This year, we also ran an event called the Kansas Cup to give Kansas and Missouri area teams a chance to participate in an off-season, fun competition.
