Lawrence/Douglas County Cold Weather Response is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to volunteer at the Community Warming Center. As a volunteer, you will play a crucial role in providing a safe and welcoming environment for individuals seeking shelter during extreme cold weather conditions. This is an excellent opportunity to make a direct impact on your community and assist those in need. This is an overnight shelter only, from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. on dates given. Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist guests upon arrival to the Warming Center.
- Provide comfort and support, ensuring guests feel safe and cared for.
- Monitor the space to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
- Help distribute blankets, food, and other essential items as needed.
- Be available to assist with check-in/check-out processes and maintain a positive, respectful atmosphere.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to ensure the well-being of all guests and fellow volunteers.
- Stay alert and ready to assist with any emergencies or needs that arise.
