Warming Center Volunteers - Fellowship Hi-Crest/SENT Site

Expired

Description

In partnership with Fellowship Hi-Crest/SENT and Topeka Rescue Mission, United Way of Kaw Valley is looking for individuals willing to staff Warming Centers across the city. This opportunity will be in direct response to the winter weather system and cold temperatures that will be impacting most of Kansas.

Volunteers who are interested in this opportunity will receive more specific details through direct email communication. This warming center will be open starting at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, and date of closure is currently set at 10 a.m. Friday, February 14. Your ability to communicate through email will be important for this opportunity, as needs may change due to weather.

These volunteers will have support from social service organizations, and will help greet and serve individuals that are in need of shelter from the extreme cold weather.

These volunteers will be helping and interacting with all members of our community; many whom are in the midst of significant physical, mental and emotional struggles.

These volunteers will be present to compassionately address immediate needs and provide a warm drink and snack.

This opportunity is only available to individuals 18 years of age and older.

These are mostly four-hour shifts with the overnight shift being eight hours. Location is listed in the title and description of the volunteer need. Please pay close attention to the shift time you have selected.
