The SRC is seeking a volunteer to help with SRC’s V.I.P. (Visually Impaired Persons) Coffee group! This group meets twice a month. Join Fran Hopkins, a local yoga instructor who is also legally blind, to discuss navigating the world as a blind senior, with a focus on assistive technology. This supportive group is a place to exchange ideas and share discoveries about using technology and other strategies to help accomplish tasks and stay active in the community, as well as share camaraderie and friendship.
Volunteer will arrive at 8:30am, 1/2 hour before the group starts, and make coffee and set up the room. When group members arrive at SRC, meet them in the lobby to help staff to escort them to the room. During the group, stay nearby to help with any needs that come up during the group (examples include escorting a member to the bathroom, getting water for a member, etc.). When the group ends, help to escort members back to the lobby to meet their transportation. Lastly, ensure the room is cleaned up and ready for SRC’s next activity.
