Volunteer: Warming Center Volunteers - Topeka Street Dog Coalition at Lois Curtis (6 hour shifts)

In partnership with Topeka Rescue Mission and Topeka Street Dog Coalition, United Way of Kaw Valley is looking for individuals willing to staff Warming Centers across the city. This opportunity will be in direct response to the winter weather system and cold temperatures that will be impacting most of Kansas.

Volunteers who are interested in this opportunity will receive more specific details through direct email communication. This warming center will be open starting at 12 pm Friday, Jan. 23 and date of closure will be assessed on an on-going basis. Your ability to communicate through email will be important for this opportunity, as needs may change due to weather.

These volunteers will have support from social service organizations, and will help greet and serve individuals that are in need of shelter from the extreme cold weather.

These volunteers will be helping and interacting with all members of our community; many whom are in the midst of significant physical, mental and emotional struggles.

These volunteers will be present to compassionately address immediate needs and provide a warm drink and snack.

This warming center location will have cohabitating/cosheltering of people and pets. 

Topeka Street Dog Coalition requires a minimum of 4 volunteers per shift to successfully run this warming center. 

This opportunity is only available to individuals 18 years of age and older.
