Who We Are
Monarch Watch is a nonprofit education, conservation, and research program based at the University of Kansas that focuses on the monarch butterfly, its habitat, and its spectacular fall migration. Monarch Watch was founded in 1992 by Dr. Orley "Chip" Taylor and the monarch tagging program was launched in the fall of that year.
What We Do
Monarch Watch runs the Monarch Tagging Program during the fall migration of the eastern monarch population. We have tagging events, and open house events. We also have a garden certification program called "Monarch Waystations." Monarch Waystation #1 is located behind Foley Hall on the KU campus and is open to the public, day and night.
