The Giving Garden (GROW.) began with a small group of Eudora
residents interested in growing their own organic produce and working together
to add beauty to the community. The Garden started at 706 Main Street and was
expanded and moved to 545 West 20th Street in Eudora, Kansas. We were able to
expand because of the generous donations from Stephanie & Nolan Jones, Pam
Staab, Scotty Thellman, Aaron Thakker, and so many others. In 2020, we were
awarded two grants to expand the Garden but will require community support in
order to sustain this project. Your support will enable us to GROW, share, and
spread seeds of kindness to our community and beyond.
The Giving Garden sprouted in 2020 on Main Street
in downtown Eudora. A group of community members came together to grow and give
produce to senior citizens in Eudora. They got noticed and were generously
awarded $50,000 in grant funding to expand the project. Along with the grant
funding, many community members came forward to support the Garden. Stephanie
and Nolan Jones donated a 1-acre piece of land and Pam Staab donated a 3,000
square foot greenhouse. Scotty Thellman (Juniper Hill Farms) and Aaron Thakker
(ATEC Services) joined forces to help set up the infrastructure and innumerable
other community members have donated their time and effort to GROW the
Garden. Aman Raeka and Mary Kirkendoll were key community members
involved in the visioning and establishment of the Giving Garden.
As of 2022, we are entirely volunteer and
donations based. Interested community members are working to create what they
believe will be an important educational and fun resource for the Eudora
community.
