Who We Are
We Were Born of a Pint | The Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade began in 1988 when a few friends of Irish heritage sat in a local pub enjoying a frothy pint. Before the night was over, they hatched the plan that would ultimately become a long-standing Lawrence tradition.
Serving Lawrence is Our Mission | The Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee is in our 37th year of serving our community. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is so much more than a one-day event. We hold numerous fundraising events in the months leading up to St. Patrick’s Day such as Irish Road Bowling, our Live & Silent Auction, a Bowling Tournament, and many others. Yearly, the committee votes on local children's charities to be our beneficiaries. To date we have raised almost $1.3 million for local charities.
Get Involved! It’s Easy & Fun | There are so many ways to get involved. From our Irish Road Bowling in October to getting your green on in March, 5K/10K runs, and even helping behind the scenes with the Parade.
What We Do
Since its founding in 1988, the Lawrence St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee has dedicated itself to benefiting local children's charities in Lawrence and Douglas County. Yearly, the committee raises nearly $100,000 and donates the entirety to the charities it chooses in August to be its annual beneficiaries.
The Committee raises funds through 10+/- annual events held from October to its downtown parade on March 17th. The Committee is made up exclusively of volunteers, without a single paid employee which means that much more money goes directly to the annual beneficiaries.
The events:
- Pool Tournament
- Bowling Tourney
- Pub Quiz / Trivia Night
- Irish Road Bowling - Fall & Spring Editions
- The Shamrock Shuffle 5K/10K
- Charity Auction
- The Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, always held on March 17th
