Who We Are
The mission of Thrive Topeka is to equip and support people to move from poverty to sustainability.
What We Do
Thrive Topeka equips families and individuals in poverty with skills and understanding about resources in the community in an initial training program. They are the Leaders in the program and set their own goals for success. Community volunteers, called Allies, work with a Leader to brainstorm goals, motivate accomplishment of goals, and help build the Leader's social capital (or network of people they can contact to access resources). Thrive enables these groups to support each other by providing a weekly meeting that includes a meal and childcare, two common resources that people in poverty need assistance with. Thrive provides ongoing support to Leaders for 18 months after training, and Allies gain valuable knowledge and experience of poverty in our community as well as ways to advocate for solutions.
