The first Saturday of June is National Trails Day, which also coincides with our annual Trail Maintenance Workday! The purpose of National Trails Day is to encourage people of all ages to find a trail in their area to either help maintain or go for a hike. With that in mind, we are inviting the public to help us with our trails anytime between 8 am - 11:00 am, and/or enjoy a guided hiking tour from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm. Either event will give the community a great chance to see this private semi-wilderness camp for Girl Scouts and other youth.
Trail Maintenance: Volunteers will work with crew leaders to clear back the encroaching growth, and are asked to RSVP and bring a water bottle. Long pants and sleeves are recommended, and tools are provided (or bring your own loppers). Check in at the green garage in the main parking lot. Any amount of time is appreciated.
Guided Hiking Tours: We have a variety of tours offered, from short 1/2 hour tours over easy terrain, medium tours that last about 45 minutes, and longer 1-hour plus tours covering most of our 2-mile trail system. All hikes begin at 11:30, with short and medium tours offered approximately every 15-30 minutes. Last tour begins at 12:30 pm. After your tour, enjoy trail mix, lemonade, lively conversation, and exhibits, as well as opportunities to meet the membership committee if you'd like more information about the camps' mission, history, or how to get involved.
No reservation needed for the tours, however all volunteers and guests must sign a waiver. Please wear appropriate clothing, including totally enclosed, durable shoes and apply insect repellent. Parking limited; Carpooling recommended. No strollers or dogs please, and all minors must be accompanied by an adult. Rain Date is June 3rd.
