On the second Saturday of May, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) hosts the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the largest single‑day food drive in the nation. Locally, the drive is planned and executed by NALC Branch 10: Capital City Letter Carriers.
In the week leading up to the event, postal customers receive a folded grocery bag in their mailbox inviting them to place non‑perishable food items by their mailbox on the day of the drive. Last year alone, this effort collected more than 35,000 pounds of food in a single weekend, providing critical support to the Topeka community.
To help raise awareness and increase participation this year, we are seeking Neighborhood Champions—volunteers who will encourage their neighbors to take part while serving as a collection point for their block or neighborhood. Champions will work closely with our team to either deliver donations to the local post office on the day of the drive or arrange for a special pickup.
