Volunteers will meet at the intersection of 5th and Kansas Ave, just in front of the Post Office at 8:45 AM Saturday March 16th, 2024. Shortly after, volunteers will assist in moving traffic control devices (street barricades) from street corners onto the roads to help the Topeka Police Department in closing roads in downtown Topeka. In addition to the street barricades, we will disperse channelizers (tall street cones) and run green caution tape through them for crowd control. Once the parade route is set up, volunteers will be assigned to street intersections during the parade. The only responsibility during the parade, other than having a front row view, is to move any barricades in the event emergency services need to access the parade route. All crowd control is the sole responsibility of the Topeka Police Department. Once the parade is complete volunteers will assist in the removal of the barricades and channelizers from the parade route. The barricades and channelizers will be placed back on the sidewalks where they were retrieved. Safety vests will be provided for all volunteers. All volunteers will meet back at the intersection of 7th and Kansas Ave. where they will receive a voucher for a free meal and beverage to be redeemed at Irishfest located at Evergy Plaza.
