Join our board and help us achieve our mission of serving expectant families through prenatal education, continuous labor support, and sustained postpartum community connection. Our goals are to provide pregnancy and childbirth education that entrusts mothers to make informed decisions about their care, to empower moms to make healthy decisions for the well-being of themselves and their children, and to improve the mother’s birth experience by providing strategic oversight and guidance.

As a board member, you will play a vital role in shaping the direction of the Topeka Doula Project and supporting our commitment to strategically underserved communities.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning: Participate and contribute to developing and implementing the organization's strategic plan on long-term goals and organizational priorities.

Financial Oversight: Review and approve annual budgets and financial reports. Ensuring responsible financial management and fundraising efforts.

Fundraising and Development: Assist in fundraising initiatives and donor cultivation and actively participate in identifying and securing new funding sources.

Governance and Compliance: Review and update organizational policies and procedures.

Program Oversight: Provide feedback and guidance on program development.

Attendance and Participation: Attend every other month board meetings. Serve on at least one board committee and actively participate in board discussions and decision-making.

Community Advocacy: Act as an ambassador for the organization within the community and promote to potential supporters.


Essential Skills:

*Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

*Ability to think strategically and critically.

*Commitment to the organization's mission and values.

*Experience in Maternal health, finance, fundraising, program management, etc.

Preferred Skills:

*Knowledge of Maternal and infant health.

*Fundraising experience

*Legal or financial expertise.

Personal Attributes:

*Passionate about making a difference.

*Team player with a collaborative spirit.

*Integrity and ethical conduct.

Time Commitment: Approximately 3-6 hours per meeting per month, including board meetings and committee work. 6 regular board meetings a year.

Board meetings are held every other month from Jan.-Dec.
