Audio-Reader relies on volunteers to record a variety of publications including newspapers, magazines, and occasionally, books. Volunteers must pass an audition consisting of a pronunciation test and a series of reading samples. Most volunteers commit to a once-weekly reading assignment for a minimum of six months.
Orientation and auditions occur twice a year. Complete a volunteer application at reader.ku.edu and you will get an email when we announce the next round of volunteer onboarding.
Reading can be done at our Lawrence studios or at home.
