Douglas County Extension Master Gardeners are volunteers trained in all aspects of horticulture. Our mission is to provide research-based gardening information to help Douglas County residents. Approximately 180 Master Gardeners donate about 9,000 hours of volunteer time each year. The Extension Master Gardener volunteer program is open to any Douglas County resident (or resident of a neighboring county that is willing to volunteer in Douglas County) who has some interest in any area of home horticulture, who is interested in acquiring new skills, and who has the time and desire to help others grow and care for plants. For more information and to apply, please visit https://www.douglas.k-state.edu/lawn-garden/master-gardener.html. Volunteer training in 2024 begins on Sept. 3rd and virtual classes meet weekly, each Thursday from 1 to 4 pm.
