Position Title: Student Volunteer - Front Desk Reception

Opportunity Overview: 

Calling all student volunteers! Are you ready to make a meaningful impact on your community while gaining valuable skills and insights into the world of non-profit work? As a Student Volunteer in our Front Desk Reception role, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for our visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

Welcome and assist a diverse range of individuals, including:

  • Families dropping off and picking up children in our Early Learning Center
  • Clients seeking support, ensuring they feel seen, heard, respected, and safe as we guide them to our services
  • Generous donors contributing to the upliftment of women and families in our community
  • Community groups utilizing our conference rooms for meetings
  • Government and community leaders partnering with YWCA to create a better future for the Topeka area

Opportunities for Skill Development:

  • Develop excellent administration skills by:
    • Answering phone calls and welcoming in-person visitors, efficiently directing them to the appropriate service providers
    • Maintaining a calm, confident, and compassionate presence, ensuring visitors feel supported and valued
    • Assisting our advocates, childcare providers, and administrative staff in maintaining an orderly workflow and fostering a tone of compassionate professionalism during clients' first contact with YWCA

Volunteer Shifts:

  • Volunteer shifts are a minimum of 2 hours, within our operating hours of 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday. We understand that as students, you have busy schedules, and we can work together to find a schedule that suits you.
  • Training will be provided to familiarize you with our organization, policies, and procedures.
