Center for Supportive Communities

August 2025 – May 2026

 

The Center for Supportive Communities (CSC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Lawrence, Kansas, is accepting applications for the 2025-26 school year. Join CSC in supporting children, families, and communities. Volunteers will work directly with students, implementing effective support strategies while collaborating with families and schools to promote student success. Volunteers will gain practical experience, skill development, and networking opportunities.

 

Note. Applicants may explore options for earning course credit for their service by consulting a faculty member or enrolling in relevant coursework.

Position Title

Student Success Volunteer 

 

Position Dates

August 2025 – May 2026

 

Time Requirements

·      Minimum of 5 hours per week. 

·      Flexible scheduling is available for some responsibilities.

 

Position Location

Douglas County, KS (Lawrence, Eudora, Baldwin City, and Perry)

 

Position Responsibilities

·      Maintain a caseload of 1- 2 students 

·      Assist with intake and assessments 

·      Facilitate weekly student meetings focused on skill-building 

·      Implement structured, research-supported strategies

·      Provide academic support and assist with problem-solving and goal setting

·      Facilitate communication between families, schools, and community partners

·      Coordinate with school staff and local service providers

·      Attend supervisory meetings as needed

·      Complete weekly documentation and progress reports

 

Required Qualifications

·      At least 18 years of age

·      High school diploma or GED

·      Good academic standing

·      Valid driver’s license and car insurance

·      Reliable transportation to and from program activities

·      Strong communication, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

·      Experience working with children, families, or schools

·      Background knowledge in education, student support services, or related fields

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office
