Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is an IRS-certified program to prepare volunteers to process and prepare income taxes, free of charge, for those in need in our community. VITA provides free income tax preparation for individuals and families with low to moderate incomes, senior adults, and disabled people.
Shawnee County K-State Extension is seeking individuals and business partners to volunteer with our VITA program for tax season! This program runs from February 2 - April 15, 2026. Volunteers, especially tax preparers, are still needed!
Volunteer roles include tax preparers, greeters, and more to support 4 Shawnee County tax sites. Free training is provided for volunteers. Find a time and location that works for you, and work as many or as few shifts as you like!
