Purpose of Role: The Property Beautification Volunteer role directly supports the Family Promise of Lawrence (FPL) mission by helping maintain clean, safe, and welcoming outdoor spaces at FPL housing units. Through seasonal landscaping and exterior maintenance, volunteers help create environments where families feel proud to call home while enhancing the safety and appearance of our neighborhoods.

Key Responsibilities:
Pull weeds from flower beds, landscaped areas, sidewalks, and fence lines.
Rake leaves and remove sticks and yard debris.
Spread mulch, compost, or soil as directed.
Water flowers, shrubs, trees, and newly planted landscaping.
Trim shrubs and deadhead flowers with staff guidance.
Sweep sidewalks, patios, and entryways.
Pick up litter and keep outdoor spaces clean.
Assist with seasonal planting and landscape projects.
Help prepare properties for spring and fall seasonal changes.
Report safety hazards or property concerns to staff.
Time Commitment, Frequency, and Expected Hours of Service:
This is a flexible, recurring volunteer commitment. Schedule and hours will be determined during the volunteer’s interview and onboarding. Typical volunteer shifts are 2–4 hours, with opportunities available throughout the growing season.
