Help Turn a Donation Into a Home
Have a truck, van, or SUV? Like working with your hands? Or just enjoy being the person who can say, “Sure, I can help get that there”?
Family Promise of Lawrence receives generous donations of furniture, household items, and other essentials that can make a huge difference for families moving into or stabilizing in their homes. We’re looking for dependable volunteers who can help get those items from where they are donated to where they are needed.
Whether you’re able to drive, help move furniture, or do both, your help can turn a donated couch, table, bed, or household item into part of a family’s new home.
What You’ll Do
Volunteers may help with:
Picking up donated furniture, household goods, and other large items from community donors
Loading and securing items for transport
Delivering donations to Family Promise families or program sites
Unloading and helping place items where they are needed
Communicating with Family Promise staff, donors, and families in a friendly and respectful manner
Treating every donation—and every family—with care and dignity
You’ll typically serve alongside a Family Promise staff member and may work independently or with a small team, depending on the size of the donation.
