Help us complete a meaningful 9/11 service project by delivering appreciation cards to local firefighters and law enforcement agencies throughout Douglas County. Volunteers will distribute thank-you packages containing handwritten cards and messages of gratitude created by community members in honor of those who serve and protect our community.
Package delivery volunteers play an important role in ensuring these heartfelt expressions of appreciation reach the heroes they are intended to honor. This opportunity provides a personal way to recognize service and sacrifice while commemorating the spirit of unity and gratitude inspired by September 11.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Pick up assigned thank-you packages from a designated location.
- Deliver packages to participating fire departments and law enforcement agencies in Douglas County.
- Represent the project in a courteous and professional manner.
- Share appreciation and gratitude on behalf of the community.
Volunteer Impact:
By delivering these cards, you help strengthen connections between community members and local first responders, ensuring they know their dedication and sacrifice are valued and remembered.
Time Commitment: Approximately 1-3 hours, depending on delivery route.
Location: Various fire departments and law enforcement agencies throughout Douglas County. You will be emailed your assigned delivery locations between September 18 and 24.
Requirements:
- Reliable transportation.
- Valid driver's license and insurance (if delivering by vehicle).
- Ability to lift and carry small packages.
Age Requirements: Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
