Mission:
Just Food is the food bank of Douglas County, supplying fresh produce, dairy products, meat, bread and pantry staples to individuals experiencing food insecurity. We distribute food onsite via our pantry, four days a week, serving upwards of 200 households per day. Additionally, since Covid began, Just Food has added one day of deliveries per week to folks who are homebound. Just Food's mission is to end hunger in our community by increasing access to healthy foods, reducing barriers to health and well-being, and cultivating self-sufficiency, and we couldn't do that without our regular core volunteers!
Position Overview:
Just Food is looking for a warm, welcoming, organized individual to regularly serve as Check-in Attendant in our pantry. This frontline position is responsible for registering and screening clients, ensuring accuracy of computer records, and facilitating a safe, comfortable grocery shopping experience. This frontline position will interact with all clients and must be able to multitask while remaining calm under pressure.
Job Duties:
- Welcome and assist all folks coming into the pantry
- Help clients understand how to navigate and operate within shopping area
- Register any new clients, ensure complete and accurate information
- Light data entry and computer usage as well as photocopying
Requirements:
- Must be punctual and dependable; ability to commit to minimum 3-hour shift
- Must present a professional appearance and friendly attitude
- Strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable on the computer
- Maintain confidentiality of Just Food clients, volunteers and partners
- Ability to commit to a regular day of the week
Training & Supervision:
- Must attend onsite volunteer orientation & complete confidentiality & liability waiver
- Complete Link2Feed (software) training
Time Commitment:
Shifts run in 3-hour increments, 9am-6pm Tuesdays, 9am-3pm Wednesdays-Fridays
