We have created a strong children's program at the market this year that we would love your help to run!
Each week, we have a simple Scavenger Hunt that kids of all ages participate in. They arrive at the Info Booth/Kid Activity Booth, see what the weekly food item is, search for it in the market, leave it there, come back to tell us, and win a prize!
What we need your help with is running this station -- pretty easy gig if you like interacting with kiddos!
- Help engage kids as they walk past, asking if they know about the Scavenger Hunt
- Give age-appropriate hints when asked for (ideally related to how the produce is grown/who has the item at their booth)
- Hand out 1 prize per kid (these range from stickers to little toys to food items. Often we get them donated from community businesses) (we also give stickers to adults if they complete the Scavenger Hunt)
- TRACK how many kids participate in the Scavenger Hunt using the clicker! (this is for grant funding, etc.)
On the first Saturday of every month, we have take-home activity kits for kids! These do not require kids to participate in the Scavenger Hunts, so please hand these out freely to anyone who wants one!
**This could be a great opportunity for kids to volunteer at the market, as kids love being engaged by our other kid volunteers!**
