Title: Online Navigator and Audio Reader for Visually Impaired
Position Overview: Assist a local person who is visually impaired by reading websites, medical forms, tax paperwork, and other vital personal papers. This volunteer role will also include some light data entry on behalf of the individual they are assigned to assist. Volunteer must have a phone and computer and must be able to take directives by phone, be comfortable reading aloud and be available to assist the individual in a virtual setting for two to four hours a week.
Support:
- Support from the United Way of Kaw Valley Staff
Commitment:
- 2-4 hours a week. NOTE: This position will be a two month commitment with the ability to re-enroll in the assistance program at the end of your two month term.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Comfortable using the computer and phone (or willing to learn).
- Kind and welcoming demeanor.
- The ability to read aloud
- Strong reading skills
- Strong typing abilities
- Average data entry capabilities
