In partnership with Topeka Rescue Mission, United Way of Kaw Valley is looking for individuals willing to potentially respond to the need for volunteers. This opportunity will be in direct response to the Severe Winter Storm that will be impacting most of Kansas with snow, wind and extreme cold temperatures.
Volunteers who are interested in this opportunity will receive more direct communication on locations, and other volunteer needs through email. Currently the warming center will be open starting at 8pm Monday evening and date of closure will be assessed on-going basis. Your ability to communicate through email will be important for this opportunity, as needs may change due to weather.
These volunteers will have support from social service organizations, and will help greet and serve individuals that are in need of shelter from the extreme cold weather.
These volunteers will be helping and interacting with all members of our community; many whom are in the midst of significant physical, mental and emotional struggles.
These volunteers will be present to compassionately address immediate needs and provide a warm drink and snack.
This opportunity is only available to individuals 18 years of age and older.
There will be both 8 hour and 4 hour shifts, which is listed in the title and description of the volunteer need, pay close attention to your shift time.
