Description

The City of Lawrence is looking for individuals willing to respond to the need for volunteers. This opportunity will be in direct response to the Severe Winter Storm that will be impacting most of Kansas with snow, wind, and extreme cold temperatures.

Currently the warming center will be open starting at 6pm Tuesday 1/16/24. The date of closure will be assessed on-going basis.

These volunteers will have support from the City of Lawrence and will help greet and serve individuals that are in need of shelter from the extreme cold weather.

These volunteers will be helping and interacting with all members of our community; many of whom are in the midst of significant physical, mental and emotional struggles.

These volunteers will be present to compassionately address immediate needs and provide a warm drink and snack.

This opportunity is only available to individuals 18 years of age and older. 

There will be 5-hour shifts, which is listed in the title and description of the volunteer need, pay close attention to your shift time.
