Background
Home Works USA starter garden is home to pollinators and a few vegetables that will store well. We don't have our residents (emerging adults between 18-26 who have aged out of foster care) yet but we have 5 homes 95% complete and 5 homes 30% complete.We are working to be Resident Ready in 2023. Please help us address food security for our community by helping protect the small crops we have planted.
This is just the beginning for this garden which is a community garden in the trues since. It has been built through community - KU Endowment and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, led by Dr. David Goering, Tonganoxie Senior High School students in Mr. Bronson's class, and now it has its own intergenerational garden team keeping it going until the residents come and join us.

We are the recipients of a 2023 AARP Community CHallenge Grant. We will be doing other projects throughout the grant period.
