The Gil Carter Initiative has kindly offered Catholic Charities the use of a residential lot at 6th and Rogers in Topeka (across from Conduent and down the street from Reser’s). A water tap is on site, eight fruit trees are already planted, and seeds are ready to go.
Our first workday is Saturday, May 17, at 10:00 AM. We will break ground, set up planting rows and raised beds, sow early crops, and share a short blessing to begin the season.
How you can help Dig and plant: turn soil, lay mulch, and sow seeds
Water stewardship: join a rotating schedule or chip in a small donation to help cover water costs
Ongoing care: weed, prune fruit trees, and keep the garden tidy through the summer
Tools, gloves, and snacks will be provided. Bring a reusable water bottle and be prepared to get a little dirty. Select a slot below to let us know you’ll be there on May 3, and feel free to claim future watering or maintenance shifts as they appear. Together we’ll grow fresh produce, stronger community, and plenty of joy.
