Volunteers will begin Phase 2 of our Community Garden initiative by providing the literal groundwork to transition the garden into it's outside space. Volunteers will till the ground where the garden will be located, spread the compost mix once the ground is tilled, and then cover the area with mulch as the top layer. This will prepare the area for students to come in later to plant and cultivate their garden space.
The school will be providing the equipment necessary however, if volunteers have a preferred pair of gardening gloves or a preferred tool (rake or shovel) they are free to bring those with them.
Volunteers should wear shoes that can get dirty as they will be walking in tilled dirt and compost material. It is recommended that volunteers also wear clothes that they can change out of before returning to work or going about their day as it is expected they will get dirty.
